Canonization of New Saints by Pope Francis

The Catholic Church celebrated the canonization of fourteen new saints during a Mass presided over by Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican. In his homily, the Holy Father highlighted that these saints, such as Father José Allamano, Sister María Leonia Paradis, and Sister Elena Guerra, lived by following the example of Jesus, characterized by selfless service.

Francis emphasized the importance of living according to God's style, which is manifested in serving others. Citing Jesus, he stressed that the victor is not the one who dominates but the one who serves out of love. Furthermore, he highlighted that service is fundamental in Christian life and that it is not just about fulfilling tasks but maintaining a constant attitude of helping others.

The Pope pointed out that service arises from love and that by learning to serve, each gesture of attention, tenderness, and mercy becomes a reflection of God's love in the world. In this sense, he mentioned that service involves shedding the desire for power and being always willing to serve others.

In the canonization ceremony, Francis remembered the life and legacy of the new saints, highlighting their faithfulness in service, both in moments of martyrdom and joy. The Pope emphasized that by following the example of Jesus, believers continue the work of love and service in the world, contributing to the construction of a more just and supportive society.
