Vatican City, January 25 (NA) -- From the window of the Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo XIV expressed this Sunday his profound sorrow over the persistent Russian attacks against Ukraine. The Supreme Pontiff denounced that the Russian offensive, which recently left thousands of families without heating in the middle of winter, only serves to deepen the division between nations. 'The prolongation of hostilities widens the fracture between the peoples,' he affirmed after the Angelus prayer, urging the international community to redouble efforts to stop the conflict. According to the Argentine News Agency, the Pope placed special emphasis on the suffering of civilians exposed to the inclement weather after the destruction of energy infrastructure. In his message, Leo XIV also addressed the youth of the Catholic Action of Rome, asking them to be 'peace activists' in their daily lives. With a call to avoid violence in gestures and words, the head of the Catholic Church concluded with a strong premise: 'Evil is overcome only with good'.
