Cardinals Gather for Closed-Door Meeting

A meeting of the cardinals, where 133 people will gather, is held behind closed doors. Future cardinals are warned that the meeting will be conducted strictly in accordance with safety measures established during the pandemic.

This time, there will not be a mass gathering of pastoral candidates and their supporters, as there was before. Only 14 cardinals, representing the interest, will be able to come to the ceremony accompanied by the Pope. A mandatory condition will be the wearing of masks and maintaining distance during the gathering to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

It is important to note that some members of the assembly of archbishops and bishops will later join the cardinals in the Capella Sistina, to reflect on the holy mass, wish the cardinals unity and mutual understanding in their decision-making.
