Vatican City, Nov 9 (EFE). - Pope Leo XIV reiterated this Sunday his call for a ceasefire in the regions affected by the war and urged efforts to be made in peace negotiations, following the recitation of the Angelus prayer from the window of the Apostolic Palace.

"In recent days, we have prayed for the dead and among them, unfortunately, there are many who were killed in the fighting and bombings, although they were civilians, children, the elderly, the sick," the pontiff said as he addressed the faithful from the Vatican window.

In this regard, the Pope highlighted that "if we truly want to honor their memory, we must cease fire and commit to negotiations."

Leo XIV also expressed his "sincere appreciation" for those who, "at all levels, are committed to building peace in the various regions marked by war," in a call for unity and shared effort for peace.
