The Pontiff and the Ukrainian leader met for the second time. The meeting, held in the afternoon at the Castel Gandolfo residence, addressed the crucial issue of the return of Ukrainian children and prisoners of war.
The Pope reiterated the need to continue dialogue and renewed his urgent wish for ongoing diplomatic initiatives to lead to a just and lasting peace, according to a statement from the Holy See's Press Office.
Following the talks, Zelensky addressed journalists in English, expressing his gratitude for the audience and the Pontiff's support, particularly regarding the return of Ukrainian children, which he described as "a very important issue".
