Pope Urges Peace Amidst Global Conflicts

The pope concluded the audience urging to pray for the much-needed peace and remembering the innocent Palestinians who were gunned down, without giving further details about it. Additionally, he mentioned the difficult situation that Ukraine is going through, drawing attention to the suffering experienced by this country in front of the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square.

In a conference held that same Tuesday, the Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States, Richard Gallagher, stated that the Vatican is actively involved in conflict resolution in various regions of the world, including Ukraine, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caucasus. Gallagher emphasized that the Vatican's intervention aims to support the pursuit of peace through just relations, respect for international norms, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

Moreover, the representative of the Holy See highlighted that they focus on humanitarian aspects, such as supporting the renewal of social life in remote and frequently forgotten areas, as well as facilitating the reunification of separated families, the exchange of prisoners, the wounded, and the bodies of the deceased between Russia and Ukraine.

In his message, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of remembering the innocent victims in armed conflicts, calling on the international community not to forget situations like those in Palestine, Israel, Myanmar, and other countries caught in wars and crises.
